Part 107 test cost and the free parts of the process
Short answer
The FAA does not charge for the Remote Pilot Certificate itself; the cost of the Part 107 initial knowledge test is the fee charged by the FAA-approved Knowledge Testing Center vendor when you schedule the UAG exam, and it is paid again for each retest. Creating the IACRA profile, the certificate application, and the recurrent online training every 24 calendar months are free.
What costs money
- The knowledge test appointment: charged by the testing-center vendor (PSI) at scheduling. Check the vendor's current price when you book; it changes and the FAA does not set it.
- A retest: a new appointment fee. The FAA does not require a waiting period or an instructor endorsement to retest the Part 107 UAG exam (see the ACS), but the vendor's scheduling rules apply.
