FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test (UAG)
The Part 107 initial knowledge test, "Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)", is a 60-question multiple-choice test with up to two hours at an FAA-approved Knowledge Testing Center. Items are drawn from five ACS areas — Regulations 15–25%, Airspace 15–25%, Weather 11–16%, Loading and Performance 7–11%, Operations 35–45% — and the minimum passing score is 70%.

Format (ACS Appendix 1)
- 60 questions, multiple choice, some referencing figures in the FAA testing supplement (sectional chart excerpts, METARs, load charts).
- Up to two hours.
- Each question is independent; there is no penalty for guessing.
- Score is a percentage on the Airman Knowledge Test Report; 70% is the minimum pass. The report lists the ACS codes of missed topics, which is the fastest way to plan a retest.

Operations alone can be almost half the test. It is also the broadest area (radio calls, airport operations, emergencies, decision making, physiology, maintenance, night operations), so it is where most candidates under-study.
After the test
The FAA issues the Remote Pilot Certificate after a TSA security check via IACRA. Certificate holders complete free online recurrent training every 24 calendar months; there is no recurrent in-person test.
